We have been very lucky to work with BVG Group for the last 10 years providing equipment and crew. Each year we have been asked to design, and liaise with local suppliers to supply equipment for the WTTC event, which this year was in Rwanda.

We always start with the hope that we are able to supply 100% of the technical equipment and crew (excluding HOD’s) locally, but as the project grows this is not always possible. On one of the recce’s that the production company carried out they were told ‘they have never had radio mic’s that work continuously, there is always interference.

Once the set design had been finalized and we knew the size of the LED backdrop it became clear we would need to fly out video show control in the form of three Barco E2’s (with spare), signal routing and various other equipment from the UK, plus 30 ways of Shure digital radio mics. All this equated to 900KG of air freight.

While on-site we worked with the local technicians to deliver the event and even provided some training to introduce newer methods of operating.

This summer, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) staged the satirical comedy musical “Urinetown” by Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis in the Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre. The production featured students from the Technical Theatre and Stage Management courses, alongside final-year BA Acting students.

Directed by Nona Shepphard, the play needed to evoke a dystopian atmosphere of heat and pollution, which required advanced video design. We at Blue-isupported this vision by providing state-of-the-art projectors, lenses, cables, and hanging frames. The video design used Disguise media servers with Panasonic laser projectors to create a large, blended image across the cyclorama, and a central flown window used an ultra-short throw projector.

Tim Reid, the Video Designer, praised the Panasonic equipment, stating, “We had a large projection surface and some tight angles to work with, with actors right up against the projection surfaces. The Panasonic gear was more than up to the task and made the job of creating the look of the show all that easier. I think it’s great that RADA is able to partner with key industry players like Blue-i, to keep the training in video right at the state of the art.”

Our collaboration with RADA demonstrates the value of industry partnerships in giving students hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology, preparing them for their future careers in the entertainment industry.

The World Rugby Awards is a high profile awards ceremony that is live broadcast around the world. We have a long standing relationship with this project, supporting ceremonies in places such as Tokyo, Monaco and last year in Paris as the 2023 hosts of the Rugby World Cup.

We supplied high resolution LED, switchers, presentation and playback media servers with full live redundancy to ensure a smooth and seamless ceremony takes place. We also supplied the technical crew to ensure the best and most experienced people are onsite.

We worked with our client from the inception of the design, pre visualising the stage and content so they could experiment with design elements at an early stage. We also met in advance to pre program cues for the show, allowing us to maximise limited time on-site. The key to a smooth show is rehearsal.

Over 1,500 Arbonne delegates flooded the NEC in Birmingham in September, for the premium health and wellbeing brand’s UK National Conference (UKNC) for 2 days of training and recognition with a celebration in the evening for all their consultants & Vice Presidents.

We delivered full technical production across the site, together with providing set, scenic and exhibition design for the plenary space and VIP areas. For those unable to attend, we created a bespoke microsite and virtual platform to allow them to watch the training.

We were tasked by Identity to supply the video & audio systems for the landmark Interpol General Assembly in Glasgow. After working on previoushigh profile events together, Identity knew we would be able to match Identity’s creative concept and budget requirements.

The 35m x 4.5m LED screen, built upon a custom structure designed by Stage Hire Scotland, gave an impressive focal point for the delegates.

The screen content was driven by a custom designed video system utilising Pixera RS media servers, with Lightware & Ross distribution.

We designed &supplied a custom 36 speaker system with additional fills to give zonal control & distribution. In addition, over 120 desk top microphones were located within the audience space to allow delegate participation.

Signal distribution was managed via Yamaha &Rio endpoints, enabling a venue wide digital comms system.

For the lavish Ambani wedding, Blue I Europe were entrusted with providing large scale projection and media management to create breathtaking visual displays across multiple venues. The goal was to use cutting edge projection technology to craft a magical, immersive atmosphere while seamlessly managing a variety of multimedia content.

We deployed forty 40,000 lumen projectors strategically positioned to illuminate large structures, stages, and outdoor landscapes. To manage complex media across the various projection surfaces, we utilized 5 Disguise media servers, known for their ability to handle real time visual content with precision.

The 80×80 matrix allowed us to route and distribute the vast array of media sources, ensuring flexibility and control over all aspects of the visual experience.

For Tarzan, we supplied the complete video system. This was made up of disguise media servers,NetgearAV line network infrastructure and Blackmagic signal distribution.

George Reeve’s fantastic video design complimented the action on stage perfectly, utilising the full scale of the LED with smooth textured gradients along contrasting sharp crisp images. The challenge technically was to realise smooth gradients across such a large screen without banding.

When working with Disney, the quality standards are incredibly high. With such a large LED wall being front and centre of a production, there’s nowhere to hide! Banding and steppy fades would be unacceptable. I’m pleased to say that the INFiLED+ Brompton combination continues to deliver for us, allowing us to meet the high standards expected from Blue iEurope.

Providing the full technical production for CIPD, Blue I Group created a plenary area with the flexibility to become a smaller breakout room with drape breaks.

All the spaces were linked together via a virtual platform allowing delegates to join and contribute live in the room with questions.

We also created a presenter content room directly linked to the spaces so the presenters could edit and run through their sessions and all changes are instantly saved to the correct room, even whilst another session is running.

For the 25th anniversary of the musical Starlight Express, Blue I Europe was tasked with delivering a cutting edge visual experience.

The production required 14 projectors, floor projection mapping, and a 360°immersive environment, controlled via Disguise media servers. The goal was to transform the stage into a dynamic, roller-skating racetrack and create an engaging, all encompassing experience for the audience.

We deployed 14 4k laser projectors strategically positioned around the venue to cover the entire stage and surrounding areas, ensuring full immersion. Floor projection mapping was used to simulate the racetrack, while overhead projectors created vibrant, ever-changing visuals that enveloped the audience.

Disguise media servers were utilized to handle complex, real-time media playback and sync visuals with the musical’s choreography, ensuring flawless execution across all projection surfaces.

We were asked to technically design a show, operation and build for a 400 strong audience with up to 4000 people viewing on a virtual platform. The show was staged on the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.

Apart from being a challenging venue we had a couple of major obstacles to overcome such as access and power.

Blue I Europe were contracted to enhance the visual experience for a Hercules theatre production, providing an 18m x 9m LED wall as the focal point of the stage design. The objective was to create an immersive and dynamic backdrop that could seamlessly transition between scenes, amplify the mythical elements of the story, and engage the audience through vibrant visuals.

We delivered a full technical solution for Hercules,  together with providing set and exhibition design, as well as a virtual platform for those overseas who were unable to attend in person.
